CASINO MYTHS
MYTH: Someone used the slot machine right after me and won the jackpot. That should have been my jackpot!
FACT: Slot machines use a random number generator to select the symbols you see on screen. Pushing the button at the exact millisecond the winning combination is generated is the only thing that determines a jackpot.
MYTH: This slot machine hasn't paid out in a long time. It's due for a win.
FACT: Machines are never "due" for a win. Since all machines pay at random, the next jackpot could be soon or thousands of spins from now.
MYTH: If I play long enough, eventually I can win back all the money I've lost.
FACT: The longer you play, the more likely you are to lose. Chasing losses just leads to bigger losses.
MYTH: Certain days of the week people win more than others.
FACT: There is no special time or day where people are more likely to win. All casino games have an element of randomness, and that makes them unpredictable.
MYTH: If I take out my Player’s Club Card I win more.
FACT: A Player’s Club Card has no effect on a slot machine or table game and is only there to reward guests based on their play.
MYTH: I nearly won so I must be due for a win.
FACT: You are never ‘due’ for a win. When you gamble each play is independent and unrelated to the ones before. In other words, ‘nearly winning’ is the same as any other loss.
